Den Danske Scenekunstskole - Copenhagen

The istitution offers the highest education in the Danish theatrical field - ranging from acting, directing and scenography to the technical special subjects of sound, light, production and stage management - and including The School for Modern Dance.Originally the school sprang from the acting classes at The Royal Danish Theatre; the training was separated from the theatre and made independent in 1968 and gradually the school expanded into its present form in 1998. The tutoring at the Danish National School of Performing Arts aims to give students artistic, theoretical and practical skills in stage art, film, radio and television. Eight actors, two directors, two scenographers and eight specialized stage technicians graduate each summer. All lines of teaching have a four year curriculum. The instruction provided by the technical department includes dramaturgy, theatrical history, physiodrama, music, and history of ideas, cultural history, free-hand drawing and leadership skills. Physically the school is situated amidst artistic colleagues, at a campus shared with The School of Architecture, The Danish National Film School and the The Rhytmic Music Conservatory. This proximity allows for multiple possibilities of professional cooperation.
